RudderHorn_1.JPGRudder Horn25 viewsPattern glued to the 4130 steel (created in DeltaCAD.) Just starting to rough cut it before grinding it and filing it to size. I'll finish up with sanding all the edges smooth and the surface of all scratches. NOTE: This is the FIRST one I made... you need to leave the ears of the piece longer so that when you bend them they don't twist. It's also easier to bend them when you leave extra material on the end.

RudderHornEarBent.JPGBending Ears on Rudder Horn25 viewsHint...leave an extra 2" of material on the end of the ears. I destroyed the end of one of my dead-blow hammers trying to bend over one of the ears without that extra material.

RudderHornEar.JPGRudder Horn Blank24 viewsIn the vice and ready for bending over the ears. Leave at least 2" of extra material on the end of the ear to make it easy to bend it over. Otherwise... it's almost impossible.
